Meet the RCCF Board: Devon Niehoff

Devon Niehoff, new RCCF board member, is a financial advisor at Edward Jones by trade, but he could also give advice on how to be a good person.

Born and raised in Rush County, Devon attended Indiana University East, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with a Minor in Entrepreneurship. When it came time to settle down and start his own family, he and his wife, Kylie made Rush County their home. They enjoy traveling and are parents of two little ones, Finley and Beckham.

What I love most about Rush County is being involved with our community. It’s wonderful how we come together to support each other for different causes. Whether it may be individuals or businesses that are hosting fundraisers or other events that provide benefits for those in need,” he shared.

Devon does his part to make sure that generosity thrives, locally and beyond.

He’s been involved with the Rotary Club in Rushville for about four years. He also volunteered with the Youth Group Workcamps that repaired homes for elderly and low-income Rush County residents and received RCCF grants to purchase the supplies .

He’s even doing good work through one of his favorite past times, antique tractor pulling. “This sport has introduced me to a great community of other pullers that create a raffle for a tractor every year to raise money for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Last year was my first year being involved, and we raised close to $100,00,” he smiled.

Devon joined the RCCF Finance Committee in 2021. When asked to join the board, he agreed without hesitation. “I know how impactful the Community Foundation is for Rush County. The support and opportunities it has provided to organizations and individuals over the years have helped grow our community,” he said.

We asked what he would do if he was given $1M with the catch that he had to give it away. “I would set up different ways to help create generational gifting. Ideas would help with issues such as homelessness and underprivileged children and help provide necessities like equipment to sports programs, just to name a few.” Sounds like Devon would start his own foundation. That’s part of what makes him a great match for RCCF.

Sometimes you just have to let loose, so you might find Devon watching his favorite movie, Twister. “I have always been intrigued by weather and the complexity of it. I am looking forward to the sequel that will be out this summer,” he admitted with a grin.

Even when his head is in the clouds, Devon has his feet planted firmly on the ground. We’re grateful for his service to our community!
