Rushville Pharmacy donation to RCCF

The Rushville Pharmacy generously donated $5 from each flu shot given September through December to the Rush County Community Foundation.  Kip Burkett, owner and pharmacist at Rushville Pharmacy, recently presented a check for $1,200.00 to Alisa Winters, Director of the Rush County Community Foundation.

Kip offered the idea to the Foundation in the fall, recognizing the Lilly Endowment GIFT VI match program as a wonderful opportunity to make twice the impact in our community.  $5 from every flu shot given this season was donated to the Rush County Community Foundation to support the community grant funds, and because of the GIFT VI program, the Rush County Community Foundation was able to match the Pharmacy’s contribution $1 for $1, ultimately making each flu shot that the Pharmacy gave worth $10 for these funds.

Kip said that the Rushville Pharmacy’s partnership with the Rush County Community Foundation was a win/win.  In total, 240 flu shots were given, hopefully to some individuals that would not ordinarily get the seasonal vaccine.  Many of the Pharmacy’s flu shot recipients commented on the donation to the Foundation, recognizing that their flu vaccine would make a positive impact beyond their health.

Alisa stated, “The Foundation was honored to be considered as a beneficiary of Kip’s creative idea.  The $1,200.00 that the Rushville Pharmacy gave actually totals a donation of $2,400.00 for our community grant funds because of the Lilly Endowment GIFT VI match program, making a generous contribution even more powerful for the entire Rush County community.  We hope that Rush County residents recognize the generosity of such a wonderful local business and reciprocate their support.”

The community grant funds at the Rush County Community Foundation support the community grants program.  Over $900,000 has been distributed from these funds since 1994, enabling programs, projects, equipment, and improvements possible for our community.  110 nonprofit agencies serving Rush County residents have received grants from these funds.  To learn more about the impact made or how to donate to these funds, visit our website at www.rushcountyfoundation.org.
