RCCA Receives First Rapid Relief Grant

Through the generosity of RCCF donors, the Rush County Community Assistance Food Pantry (RCCA) received $5,000 from the Rush to Help: COVID-19 Rapid Relief Fund. This is the first grant made from the fund.

RCCA is an all-volunteer run organization that continues to adapt and to operate during this critical time for the Rush County community. By altering the way they work, they’ve been able to continue providing food to those in need during the pandemic crisis. They pre-package 2-weeks worth of essential meal planning items and have implemented a curbside pick-up system to minimize contact and keep clients and volunteers safe.

Food pick-up is available to anyone in need on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am-1pm in front of the building, located at 109 E. 3rd Street in Rushville. They are working closely with other social service agencies to help identify families that need food assistance. Additionally, Gleaners Mobile Pantry will be at the Rush County fairgrounds the first Monday of every month from 4-6pm. Drive-thru distribution will continue until the crisis is over.

The grant money will be used to purchase milk and food at deeply discounted prices. As the economy continues to decline, the need for food assistance is increasing, making every dollar crucial. Thanks to RCCA for their dedication and to RCCF donors for your support – no one in Rush County will have to go hungry.

Darilyn Bedel, RCCA President, shared these thoughts, “We are so blessed to have such a giving community. The amount of financial support and the number of people who stepped up to volunteer are the only reasons we are able to keep our door open during this COVID -19 pandemic. We are so grateful for all the help we receive. I know the food we distribute helps eliminate some of the stress that families are experiencing.”
