Grantee Update: Rush County Soil & Water 6th December 2023 2022 Grant Recipient $1,400: Rita Yager Memorial Ag Fund Submitted by: Joyce Miller Our objective was to offer free gardening programs to the community and do “hands-on” training to enhance the community garden and encourage community participation as well as teaching people how to garden and the basics of protecting our natural resources. Although we would have liked to had more people participate, we had more than 70 people attend over the course of 7 programs. We added a new plot to the community garden as well as a compost bine and information sign. Sessions included: Seed starting, how to start a garden (tarped off 20’x30’ plot), adapt a garden to your space, planted seeds and starts, composting, pest management, attracting pollinators, growing native plants, cover crops, and soil health. Overall we had good participation from the community. Like this? Share it:
