RCCF Provides Matching Grant Opportunity to East Hill Cemetery 1st July 2016 The Rush County Community Foundation has granted East Hill a matching grant of up to $13,500 for restoration of the 115 year old Arch which graces the front of the cemetery. The arch was built in 1901 for an entire cost of $2,500. After 115 years, it is in need of restoration. The cost of restoration is estimated to be $33,000 to $40,000. East Hill has already received generous donations from individuals for this project. Now any donation made after June 15, 2016 will be matched by the Rush County Community Foundation for up to $13,500. Such donation must be made to East Hill by June 14, 2017. East Hill is a garden cemetery which was laid out by Mr. Leo Weltz who was landscape architect for Spring Grove Cemetery at Cincinnati, Ohio. There are over 1,250 veterans, as well as Union Civil War General Pleasant Hackleman and National Republican Presidential candidate Wendell Willkie, buried at East Hill.
