Message to Parents

Parents,

We are excited to work through the scholarship process with you and your student.  The transition from high school to college is an exciting and often overwhelming time, and we look forward to working with your family to make the experience rewarding.

The Rush County Community Foundation has more than 70 scholarship funds that have been established by generous donors. The available funds range and the eligibility for scholarship awards is unique for each fund, specific to the criteria set by the donor.  Please review our fund descriptions to determine the individual scholarship funds in which you can apply.

To apply for RCCF scholarships your student needs to complete these steps by Monday, February 15, 2022:

  1. Provide a copy of Form 1040, Page 2 OR WHICHEVER PAGE shows ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME for tax year 2021 (2020 if 2021 is not yet available) for the parent(s)/guardian(s) who claimed applicant on taxes for that year.
***For those of you who have applied for scholarships from the RCCF in the recent past, College Cost Estimator is no longer available, hence the change in the method of reporting.
  2. Find all of the requirements, tutorials, helpful information and a link to complete the RCCF Scholarship Application here.  At the completion of the application process students will be given additional instructions if the scholarships they qualify for require additional essays or uploads.

***Applications will be submitted online only.

As your student works to complete their application it will be useful to have the following on hand:

  • Current original official transcript (college student) or email address of academic counselor (high school student)
  • Financial aid package
    • This is a letter or list detailing the financial aid available to your student next year, including school scholarships, government grants and loans. It is not an invoice.
  • For high school seniors and students starting at a new school next year: Letter of acceptance to their school
  • For students who are going into a specific program (e.g. nursing, teaching, etc.): Letter of acceptance to their program

The RCCF staff is happy to work with you to answer any questions you have along the way. More details are provided within the website and in our office. We hope you’ll take the time to reference the resources listed under the “Scholarships” tab, too. We encourage student communication, but will communicate with parents as well.  Email questions to: info@rushcountyfoundation.org.

Finally, we ask that you consider the difference our scholarship funds have made or will make in your student and family’s life. Thank these generous donors appropriately, and of course, pay it forward! Donations to the RCCF are tax-deductible and benefit the entire Rush County community for generations to come.
