YIP Spotlight: Sami Smith

RCHS Junior Sami Smith is one busy girl between her extracurricular involvements, homework, and work on the farm with her father, brother, uncle, and grandpa. Sami is involved with FFA, FCA, International Club, Richland Farmers and Farmerettes 4-H Club, Main Street Christian Church Youth Group, and Little Flatrock Christian Church Youth Group. Somehow, she still finds time to give back to the community through FFA events, Bowl for Kids Sake, and Youth in Philanthropy (YIP). How does she do it? Well, she is strongly motivated by the people in the community. Sami loves seeing people’s faces and getting to communicate with them while volunteering. For her, it is an incredible feeling to figure out how she can help people. YIP gives her plenty of opportunities to figure this out as she participates in monthly meetings, events, and the grant-giving process. Sami thinks these experiences have given her leadership skills and allowed her to become connected and aware of what is going on in the community. Her three years of service have also helped her to develop courage and be less shy. RCCF loves having Sami on our YIP team and seeing her grow into an amazing person!
