Marching On – Again!  RCCF Proceeds in Brackets for Good Tournament

Another exciting week in March passed, and at 8:00PM on Friday evening, the Rush County Community Foundation learned that they would be moving on once again in the competitive Brackets for Good fundraising tournament!  They remain among 8 of the original 64 competing non-profit organizations throughout Indiana in the “Engaged 8” round of the tournament, taking place until 8:00PM this Friday.

After a tough competition last week against Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, RCCF prevailed by a mere 87 points at the last minute.  On Thursday afternoon the Foundation received an email from Gleaners stating that all dollars raised in our competition round would be given to support their two mobile food pantries in Rush County.  Foundation friends were absolutely overcome by their graciousness and feel proud that competing in the tournament actually brought the organizations together for the greater good of Rush County.  A special thanks is extended to Gleaners for their generosity to the food-insecure in our community.

This week, the Foundation is paired against Paws and Think, Inc., an organization that serves at-risk youth, canines, and children and adults with disabilities/special needs in Central Indiana by improving lives through the power of the human-dog connection.  If RCCF surpasses Paws and Think in fundraising, they will proceed on to the “Philanthropic 4” round of the tourney!  If the Foundation moves on to the “Philanthropic 4”, the timeframe shortens:  the Philanthropic 4 concludes on April 3, and the final championship is April 3-April 6.  The final championship provides RCCF the opportunity to compete for $10,000!

Until the end of the week (or the remaining $5,000 is used), contributions made via Brackets for Good will be matched $1 for $1 for the community grants program!  Ultimately, this is a fundraising tournament we all win!

Contributions for the challenge should be made online via www.bfg.org or the Foundation’s website.  All proceeds benefit the Rush County Community Foundation’s community grant funds.

Contact the RCCF office for more information on the Brackets for Good challenge, the community grant funds and the grants awarded, or if you’d like to make a donation!  Visitors are welcome to come in to submit their online donation:  stop by the office at 117 N. Main St., or call (765) 938-1177.
