Kappa Kappa Kappa, Phi Chapter of Rushville and the Rush County Community Foundation

As a part of the continued series reviewing the Rush County Community Foundation’s “designated endowment” funds, we’ll be taking a weekly look at the Rush County nonprofit organizations that have funds that support their mission and work held at RCCF.  This week’s installment focuses on the Kappa Kappa Kappa, Phi Chapter of Rushville.

Kappa Kappa Kappa, Inc., commonly known as Tri Kappa, is a unique philanthropic organization existing only within the boundaries of the state of Indiana.  Since its inception in 1901, Tri Kappa has thrived throughout the state with 144 Active Chapters and 110 Associate Chapters, totaling almost 9000 actively participating members.  The Tri Kappa, Phi Chapter of Rushville is comprised of women from throughout Rush County that are passionate about volunteerism, improving our community, and of course, fellowship.  The group’s monthly meetings provide an opportunity to convene as sisters, discuss emerging needs within Rush County, and enjoy a presenter’s message, often offering new information to members about local opportunities, nonprofits, and community projects.

Each Tri Kappa chapter enlists in special projects for its community for charity, culture, and education.  In addition to local projects, each Tri Kappa chapter supports statewide projects.  The Rushville Tri Kappa chapter donates to over 30 causes and organizations, supporting a variety of needs and projects including (but not limited to) hunger, youth, education, and arts.  Beyond offering support to local nonprofit agencies and local needs, the Tri Kappa chapter awards two scholarships each year to local students pursuing higher education.

In order to support the various organizations and projects, fundraising is an integral part of the organization’s efforts.  Members contribute in various ways, though the chapter’s primary fundraising occurs via the annual fall nut sales and the spring BINGO event.  Fundraising increases the chapter’s capacity to give back and continue support of existing projects.

The Rush County Community Foundation is proud that the Tri Kappa, Phi Chapter of Rushville recognizes the benefit of our long-term investment strategy.  The Kappa Kappa Kappa, Phi Chapter of Rushville Fund was begun by the chapter’s officers in 2007 to provide ongoing support of their charitable activities.  Since the initial investment, gifts and investment growth have increased the fund’s value, substantially impacting the annual disbursement the chapter receives.  The annual support provided from the fund at RCCF will forever support their charitable needs, including the organization’s scholarships and sponsorship of community projects.
