The 2019 CIRCLe Fund grant recipient was the City of Rushville Parks and Recreation Department. After researching the popularity of the soccer-like sport known as “Futsal,” the Parks Department developed a plan to revitalize an unused space to create a court and to develop a program for youth and adults to enjoy. The asphalt pad north of the basketball courts in South Veterans Memorial Park was repurposed and turned into an award-winning, permanent, year-round Futsal court. After its dedication in October of 2019, the court was in use as one of the first Urban Futsal Courts in our 20-city area. In February of this year the Indiana Soccer Association recognized the City of Rushville Parks and Recreation Department for the development of their Futsal court. This project was made possible by the CIRCLe Fund membership and they are thrilled with its success.
