#Scholar Update – Julie Vaughan

As I begin my final semester at Butler University, I am in disbelief at how quickly the time has gone. Starting from the moment I was fortunate to receive the amazing gift that is the Lilly Endowment Scholarship, this experience has been a whirlwind. I will be graduating in May with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science, as well as dual minors in Healthcare Management and Chemistry. It has been an honor to attend Butler University and have such a wonderful experience (Go Dawgs!). Both in the classroom and outside of it, it has been an incredible journey. From cheering on the dawgs in Hinkle Fieldhouse to spending hours studying in the library, I have loved every minute of it. My passion is to connect the underserved to resources and healthcare. Through my experience at Butler, I have been able to conduct research on the poverty cycle in central Indiana and lead service teams to help alleviate the burden of poverty. I hope to attend medical school in the fall and eventually work in an underserved clinic. I cannot thank Rush County and the Lilly Endowment enough for the opportunity to pursue my passions. Because of the gift you have given me, I hope to dedicate my life to serving those around me. I cannot thank you enough for this gift and the community I will carry with me forever.
