Helen and Jim Ewing Fund Grant Applications Due Monday, May 23rd

The Helen and Jim Ewing: to Help the Elderly and Feed the Hungry Fund, created May 27, 2014, is to be used to award funds every year to assist the elderly or the needy.  The funds may be distributed to an agency that provides food for the needy, an agency that supports those serving the elderly populations, or to a non-profit organization that assists the elderly with essential needs and services.  Priority is given to a Rush County non-profit or an organization from another county that serves Rush County residents.  Organizations that provide services, such as hospice, food pantries, or Meals on Wheels, are also given priority.

Jim Ewing began the fund in memory of his late wife Helen who enjoyed supporting causes like feeding the poor and hungry and giving support to the elderly.  After 60 years of marriage and service to the community, it was important for Jim to honor his wife with a Fund that would forever benefit the causes in which she was most passionate. In naming the fund, he wanted to include his wife’s name first.

The Rush County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the grant application for the Helen and Jim Ewing: to Help the Elderly and Feed the Hungry Fund is now available.  Organizations that meet the criteria previously listed may apply.  The application deadline is Monday, May 23, 2016.
